Investment timing and external effects

Abstract

A firm can export or set up a new plant abroad. I consider that the uncertainty comes from the exchange rate and examine the impact of exchange rate uncertainty on the timing of foreign direct investment with externalities for the foreign market. I find that benefits and cost externalities affect the speed of foreign investment. The analysis framework is used to provide investment decisions for Mongolian companies.
